The Gobi Desert is in China/Mongolia. As you can see, it stretches from Mongolia's capital, Ulaanbaatar, to just northeast of China's capital, Beijing. It is very famous for being the desert of the Mongols for this used to be the centre of the Mongol empire, led by Genghis Khan. It was also famous for being along the silk road.
